This is the first Daniel in the Lion's Den Bible Lesson to teach kids the basics of this epic Bible Story. In this lesson, we'll cover why Daniel was thrown into the pit - it was because he lived God's way. Kids will learn what it means to live differently as disciples of Jesus.
The program elements include a name game, memory verse, song, lesson, Q&A, and prayer.
This is lesson #7 in a series of 10 on the Old Testament's most epic tales:
From The Creation to Jonah & the Whale
May you find space here to pause, reflect, and abide.

Icebreaker
Everybody has to keep their mouths tightly closed. Then, play a few rounds of charades - the game where you have to act out a topic with a performance, no sounds, while the rest guess until they get it right.

Daniel in the Lion's Den Bible lesson
Today we’re going to read about another prophet,📢 like Jonah from the Bible. show a physical Bible His name was Daniel. There’s a whole book about him in the Bible.
When Daniel was still young, he was taken by people to a strange country. There, he had to learn strange customs to fit in… They even gave him a new name. But Daniel decided he would rather still live according to God’s way. He didn’t eat the strange foods, use his new name, or stop living close to God.🌱
The people did not like Daniel very much because he was… different. But God protected him and blessed him a lot because he did the right things.
One day the King 👑 of that country built a giant statue of himself. All the people had to bow before the big statue and worship it. 🙏 But Daniel remembered God’s way of living. Number 1 of the 10 Commandments says 🗣️: “You may not worship any other gods”. So, Daniel refused to bow down before the King’s big statue.
This made the King feel very ashamed - and then, very angry. Long story short, they threw Daniel into a pit, hole, or cave. But he was not alone. There was also a pride 🦁 of lions in there with him! Can you believe it!
The next morning the King 👑 came closer, carefully, and shouted: “Daniel, are you there?” To his great surprise Daniel called back!
God saved Daniel’s life and sealed the lions’ mouths shut - they could not even growl or roar at him!
