Can't find a children's lesson that fits the particular Bible passage, theme or teaching emphasis you're working with? I create custom kids ministry curriculum around the needs of individual people, families, churches, and ministries.

Children's church is almost always unpredictable. Sometimes a one-size-fits-all curriculum just does not cut it - believe me, I know. Sometimes the group you're working with ranges from toddlers to rather mature teens. Sometimes you have a specific verse on your heart to teach the kids, or you have an irregular Sunday that doesn't fit your curriculum rhythm.

Let's talk about what goes into putting together a Sunday school curriculum of a few lessons on your chosen theme or verse. This simple service is my ministry to believers around the world - putting God's Word into words kids can understand and into the hands of the people walking with them in faith (that's you).

May you find space here to pause, reflect, and abide.

Bible lessons that aren't generic

Sometimes you know exactly what you want the children in your Sunday school to hear: a particular Bible verse, a passage that has been on your heart, or a truth you want to help them understand. But then comes the difficult part — finding a lesson that actually fits. You can find plenty of Sunday school resources, but perhaps none that take that verse seriously, explain it in an age-appropriate way, and help children connect God's Word with their own lives. When we are teaching children the Bible, we don't want to simply attach a Bible verse to an activity and call it a lesson. We want to help them encounter what God is saying through His Word.

You have unique needs

If you are a parent, you might have identified one specific thing that your kids need to learn.

  • Stop bickering with your siblings

  • Learn appreciation and thankfulness

  • Practicing generosity

  • A Scripture on your heart, like Psalm 23, the fruit of the Spirit, kindness, sharing, generosity, prayer, knowing who God is, etc.

  • The need to help them memorize Scripture

If you are leading a kids ministry; nobody knows the kids you are discipling better than you do.

  • You know their unique context and culture

  • You know how many kids come to church on a Sunday

  • You know their ages

  • You know what they understand (and what they don't)

  • You know what they struggle with

If you are planning an international outreach or mission; no American curriculum can do what you need it to.

  • Be culturally sensitive

  • Use words kids can actually understand

  • Bridge divides and build relationships

  • Start from the very, very basics: Who is God?

Looking for a Sunday school lesson on a specific Bible verse or theme? Sometimes you need something more particular than a ready-made curriculum can offer.

I wrote my first ever kids ministry curriculum in 2023 for exactly that reason. The fancy curriculum we bought was obviously thorough and amazing - but it just did not translate to our context. It did not speak to our actual needs.

I understand what it feels like to finish the "perfect" lesson and still be met with blank stares from the kids in front of you. Because it's not what their hearts needed to hear today. Because it's not fresh manna. Because it's not written for them.

What if we could create something that speaks to the individual children in your community and addresses the topics you feel on your heart?

You know your children. You know what they need. You know the Scripture/theme you want to teach. I can turn that into something usable.

Who am I? Why am I the person to write this for you?

I’m a writer, editor and practical theologian with a Master’s degree in Practical Theology, specialising in youth and children’s ministry. I spent three years working with a church plant from the United States, developing and teaching children’s ministry in a local South African context, and have since written and edited curriculum and discipleship resources for established Christian ministries globally. With more than a decade of experience in youth ministry and professional experience in Christian writing and editing, I bring together theological training, ministry experience and a love for making deep biblical truth understandable to children. This is not just my job; it's my calling.

I'd be honored to also help you reach more kids with God's truth in ways they connect with.
